Lyrical poetry and stunning paintings showcase the surprise, the fun, and the beauty of everyone's favorite winter adventure: snow!

Some snow is First Snow,
we've waited for so long snow.
Is it really snow snow
or only heavy rain?

Starting with the thrill and excitement over the first flakes falling from the sky, we follow three young neighbors enjoying all types of snow through the season. From sleet and fluff snow that isn't good for anything to angel snow, snowball snow, driveway snow (which can lead to the best forts), tracking snow, sledding snow, snow day snow, and all the way to the last snow which is exciting in its own way:

Soon, soon, all gone snow.
We've waited for so long snow.
Please, please, no more snow.
Our bikes are whispering.

Beautiful verse and evocative energetic illustrations perfectly hit all the right exciting and cozy notes that children will savor every winter!
Ellen Yeomans knows snow. She was born and spent much of her life just outsi de of snowy Syracuse, New York--where it is not uncommon for the first snow to begin in late October and continue until May. Ellen is the author of many books for young readers, including the picture book The Other Ducks, illustrated by Chris Sheban, and a young adult novel, Rubber Houses. She now lives and teaches English in Prague.

Andrea Offermann is the illustrator of The Yin-Yang Sisters and the Dragon Frightful by Nancy Tupper Ling, J. A. White's The Thickety series, M.  T. Anderson's graphic novel Yvain: The Knight of the Lion, and more. She was born and raised in Cologne, Germany, and graduated from Art-Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, with a bachelor's degree in illustration.
"A perceptive, three-season-ish celebration of snow perfect for a snuggly read." --Kirkus Reviews

"Incorporating a range of winter pastimes, from making snow angels, throwing snowballs, and sledding to tracking critters, avoiding yellow snow, and staying cozy on a blizzardy day. . . The richly detailed illustrations combine the crispness of manga-inflected pen-and-ink drawings with the softness of watercolor to show an inclusive cast of children experiencing every sort of snow. --Publishers Weekly

"This is a charming seasonal story. . . Offermann's vivacious pen, ink, and watercolor illustrations brim with energy and movement, whether it's the leaves blowing in the wind of the first snowfall, flying snowballs, or the three friends sailing over a hill on a sled." --School Library Journal
