Celebrating 25 Years of Partnership: Honoring Teachers Everywhere This May With First Book

By Coll Rowe | May 7 2025 | General

Penguin Random House and First Book are commemorating 25 years of partnership by honoring and celebrating teachers throughout the month of May. As part of this celebration, 25 educators will be awarded gift credits worth $200 each, redeemable for books from the First Book Marketplace.

This initiative is designed to ensure students have plenty of reading material for the summer. The winners will be chosen randomly in early June. If you know an exceptional teacher, encourage them to participate in the giveaway by completing the online form.

Teacher Appreciation Week and National Teachers Day originated with the advocacy of former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who in 1953 urged Congress to acknowledge the essential role of teachers. Initially observed on March 7, National Teacher Day was moved to May in 1984, and the National Parent Teacher Association designated the first week of May as Teacher Appreciation Week.

We believe teachers are crucial in shaping children’s education and lives and deserve recognition throughout the year. Join us in celebrating a teacher you know this month!
