DANIEL RAVEN-ELLISON is a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and guerilla geographer. His work focuses on nurturing playful exploration, education, and geography through teaching, experimenting, writing, social media, gaming, and more. He's a lead partner in The Geography Collective, a group of about 25 educators and geographers who produce books, websites, events, explorations to inspire kids about the world around them. He's also one of the creators behind the Geography Collective's Mission:Explore, an online game and site for children to explore and learn about their world.

KAREN DE SEVE has been writing more than 15 years about science and nature for national television, interactive museum exhibits, educational publications, and the web. Karen also writes feature stories for such publications as National Geographic Kids, Science World, and Weekly Reader. This is her first book for National Geographic.
