Mason and Mia are twins . . . but don’t always get along. When Mia wins a dolphin at the fair, Mason really, really wants one, too. If only Mia could make a twin dolphin!

This story explores the Makers theme of 3D Printing and helps young makers understand how it works and get excited to try it for themselves! Mia and Mason are able to make a 3D scan of the dolphin to create a 3D model, and use a special kind of melted plastic to create the three-dimensional design.

Tying into the popular Makers Movement, Makers Make It Work is a series of fun easy-to-read stories that focus on problem-solving and hands-on action.

*Bonus Activity in the Book: Draw a picture of your favorite animal from each side—a 2D drawing, then use it to create a 3D model.
Catherine Daly has written many books for young readers, including The Magical Reality of Nadia and The Magical Reality of Nadia: Middle School Mischief, both with Bassem Youssef, What Was the Age of Exploration?, the Petal Pushers middle-grade series, and several books in the Makers Make It Work series. She lives in New York City with her family and their feisty Boston terrier, Jack. View titles by Catherine Daly
Tammie Lyon is an award-winning author and illustrator of many books for children. Her previous books include the Eloise series as well as the Katie Woo and Pedro series. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband. View titles by Tammie Lyon
