When You Meet My Friend

A book about making friends at school

Illustrated by Marisa Morea
A heartwarming and reassuring story for children ages 3-7 about a boy’s first day at school and the spread of friendship and kindness as he is welcomed into the class. Features a surprise ending!

It’s a young boy’s first day at a new school, and he’s feeling a little lost. This lyrical, reassuring story takes us through the boy’s day and all the ways the other children make him feel welcome, from showing him where to hang up his coat to saving him a seat at lunchtime. This sweet story illustrates the ripple effect of friendship as the boy is welcomed in and the narrator shows that he will also be a great friend to them.

And at the end of the school day, there’s someone very special waiting for him….
Mark Sperring fell in love with books after reading Gobbolino, the Witch’s Cat as a child. For many years, Mark worked in a storeroom unpacking boxes of books before finally writing some of his own. He currently lives in Bristol, UK.

Marisa Morea graduated with an MA in Illustration from EINA School in Barcelona, Spain. After a few years working as an Art Director in several advertising agencies in Madrid, she decided to become a full-time illustrator. Marisa practices yoga, plays piano, and loves lemon pies.
