All you need is a drawing surface. A drawing tool. A dot. And a line. Whatever your skill level, you're invited to draw along.

"[E]xploratory text strikes an intimate chord that should immediately put any audience at ease, extending into ideas about consciousness and self-discovery, and aligning the act with everything from 'focusing' to 'growing' to 'magic.' . . . It’s like having a series of conversations with a cool, totally nonjudgmental, knows-the-ropes friend." STARRED REVIEW, Publishers Weekly

"An inspirational primer on the art of drawing showing how the art form is for everyone." —School Library Journal

"Haidle’s illustration style is unusual, combining human and animal forms, visual sequences, and humorous depictions of abstract concepts. This comprehensive introduction provides much fodder for artistic growth and experimentation." —The Horn Book

"[F]rom the very first page, it challenges young (and older) readers to think about what it means to use your imagination in a visual form. . . . [T]his is one of the best, most complete, books on the subject I have seen, a truly essential work." —Imaginary Elevators
