Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden are four brave siblings who were searching for a home when they discovered a life of mystery and adventure!

This boxed set includes the following titles:
  • Meet the Boxcar Children: When four orphaned children find an abandoned boxcar in the woods, they decide to call it home—and become the Boxcar Children!
  • Surprise Island Adventure: As the Alden children explore their summer home, they realize there is more to the island—and to a new friend—than meets the eye.
  • Secret of the Yellow House: A long-lost clue leads the Alden children to a mysterious old house while on summer vacation.
  • Mystery at the Old Ranch: The Alden children make a discovery that leads them to investigate a mystery involving their family ranch.

Step 2 Readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories. For children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help.
Gertrude Chandler Warner grew up in Putnam, Connecticut. She wrote The Boxcar Children because she had always dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or a freight car—just as the Aldens do. When readers asked for more adventures, Warner wrote more books—a total of nineteen in all. After her death, other authors have continued to write stories about Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, and today The Boxcar Children® series has more than one hundred books. SHANE CLESTER has been a professional illustrator since 2005. He currently lives in Florida with his wonderful wife and their two tots. When not illustrating, he can usually be found by his in-laws' pool. View titles by Shane Clester
